The couples and relationship therapy that I provide focuses on identifying negative repetitive patterns that keep us from experiencing what we want most in our relationships: Deeper connection with one another. I utilize an attachment-based model known as Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

There is a common misconception that if we feel misunderstood, disappointment or hurt in our romantic relationships that means our relationships are doomed to fail. This is not necessarily true and in fact, these are naturally occurring emotional experiences in relationship. Instead, this is actually an opportunity to deepen your connection with your partner.

Some reasons people seek couples and relationship therapy are: Communication difficulties, constant arguing, infidelity, sexuality and sexual differences, negotiating opening their relationship, starting a family, parenting support and ending a relationship.

I help my clients in understanding how their conflicts and behaviors are attempts at achieving greater connection with one another, despite not appearing that way in the heat of conflict or during quiet disconnection. Once these relational patterns are identified we move toward understanding their root causes. Through a guided process of emotional bonding, new ways of relating, communicating and trusting one another emerges a greater and more secure intimacy.

Everyone is welcome in my practice and I have a particular interest in working with queer couples and relationships. I also work with polyamory, alternative relationship configurations and am kink friendly.
